Black business tool kit
Only 4.3% of America's 22.2 million business owners are Black, according to a February report by the Brookings Institute. And Black-owned businesses launch with about "a third less capital than their White peers and have difficulties raising private investments from mainstream investment systems," reported Brookings. While 7% of White business owners get a loan in their first year of business, only 1% of Black business owners do so.

Juneteenth Black Business Fund:
Application closed until june 22nd 2026
Hosted by Black Humboldt and The Eureka Chapter of the NAACP, with support provided by Humboldt County Community donations and The Humboldt Area Foundation. This fund is specifically for Black owned Businesses, Black identifying independent contractors, and creators operating out of or serving Humboldt County. All funds received must be used on business related expenses.
Business on Blast
Business on Blast is an annual event for businesses owned and operated by Black, Indigenous and People of color at any stage of their business. The event is hosted in collaboration with The North Coast SBDC, True North Financing, Humboldt Made, Chico State, Redwood Regional Economic Development Center and all the Humboldt local Chamber of Commerce to participate in resource sharing, small business connections, sharing experiences, trips and tricks and checking in on what our small community of Black & Brown businesses need.
Participants receive prizes, goodie bags, brunch, limited edition cohort and grant invitations and input from business that share lived experiences with them.
